DeeDee

DeeDee was part of the large group of TMs that were rescued when their breeder in New Mexico died. She has been with her new home in Orlando for just over a year now. While she arrived with a number of "issues" (and still has many of them) the improvement is noticable. Within the past few months she has begun to use her sense of smell and to use her tongue to groom herself. We go to a large off-leash dog park every morning. She is no longer afraid when other dogs come up to her and is only nervous (rather than terrified) when people come near. She will only let others pet her at the park when I am petting her. At home she still has a "Do Not Disturb" sign out for our other dogs (a TM mix and chow mix) and does not socialize with them. No antagonism -just no interest. The sign might be out for humans as well but we ignore it. When someone comes in or goes out of the house she may or may not pay any attention. When it is time to go to the park in the morning or for a walk later on she runs to the door, sits until her leash is on and the door is opened, then walks outside like a lady. When we walk the neighborhood she is easily the best behaved dog I have ever walked.

With all of her difficulties, she is a sweetheart and part of our family.
